A Texas boy may have secured a junior state record after reportedly catching a roughly 67-pound catfish over the weekend.

13-year-old Brenden Rogers snagged the massive fish while out on Lake Tawakoni with a local guide service, Fox 4 News reported.

The Texas Parks & Wildlife confirmed on Twitter that a junior record was pending, adding that the fish was brought to the state’s Freshwater Fisheries Center and will remain on display.

The teen was on the fishing excursion with his grandfather, KTXS reported.

State Rep. Mike Lang tweeted his congratulations to Rogers, sharing a photo of the boy holding his catch, which Lang added was 47 inches long.

The family members go “fishing often,” Lang told KTXS, and Roger’s grandfather “has inspired him with the love of fishing.”
