The web helps us explore remote wine regions Video

There are a ton of people out there trying to marry wine and the web but only a few are doing it right.

Antonio Galloni is one of them.

He founded Vinous Media in 2013 and it’s a new world for him.  After years as the lead critic at Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, where he covered the wines of California, Italy, Burgundy and Champagne, he decided to focus on the web.

Now with text and video, his subscribers from around the world, get to go on all his vineyard tours with him, and now he’s adding interactive maps.

His first is of Barolo country, “which is Italy's answer to Burgundy,” says Galloni.  The great part is you can drill down into the map straight to specific vineyards. You’re practically standing the driveway. He lists all the vineyard’s wines and rates them too. Even gives you tips on whether you need to hold on to them, or if you can open them tonight.

Really cool.

And speaking of wine, he brought a few: 2010 Vietti Langhe Nebbiolo Perbacco ($30), 2009 G.D. Vajra Barolo Albe ($40), and 2008 Brovia Barolo Ca' Mia ($90).

Try one and let me know.

Cent’ Anni.
