Not surprisingly, Miami has a different take on a winter cocktail. Since in South Beach, winter is simply a time to put on a slightly less skimpy bathing suit, winter drinks are a bit lighter than one might find elsewhere in the country. But they're no less sophisticated. Lantao Kitchen + Cocktails created this complex twist on a margarita replaces sweet Triple Sec with smokey Maguey mezcal that's just this side of too much – only brought back from the edge by a solid lug of sweet agave. It's a walk on a winter beach.

Ingredients:

2 Oz Partida Blanco Tequila

1 Oz Del Maguey Vida mezcal

1/4 Oz fresh lemon juice

Agave to taste

Preparation:

Shake all the ingredients together with ice in a large shaker full of ice, then strain into a cocktail glass with rimmed with smoked paprika to accent the smoky notes. It'll blow people's minds, but in a good way.
