Sleek specialty wine seller isn't just for the rich and famous

Walk into Crush Wine & Spirits in Manhattan and the first thing you see is this wave wall of wine.
The wall curves beautifully and the bottles lie sideways, not standing on shelves as in most wine shops.
The wine offerings are the next thing you notice. The selection of lesser-known producers from around the world.
You can thank wine collector and managing partner Robert Schagrin for that.
Schagrin, who has called himself a "psychotic wine collector," has created an eclectic wine shop with two other partners. One partner is Drew Nieporent, founder of the Myriad Group which includes New York restaurants like Nobu and the Tribeca Grill.
Schagrin has purposely stocked the store with lesser-known, high-quality wines. And because of that, the collector has attracted fellow collectors - from athletes to Hollywood actors to Wall Street CEOs - who come in and want to try Schagrin's latest finds.
But don't be intimidated. While he certainly has uber high-end wines, his store is not just for the rich and famous. I bought a bottle of the Pinot Noir from Argentina. The 2012 Bodega Chacra Pinot Barda was only $25 and it was terrific.
I love the idea of trying something new. So go buy a bottle of something you never had before and let me know how you enjoy it.
