Spanish-style tapas restaurants are nothing new here in the States, but casual diners might be surprised to find tapas-style offerings at their local Olive Garden.

According to Bloomberg Business Week, Olive Garden is planning to offer a selection of smaller plates in order to draw a younger crowd. Dishes such as chicken meatballs, Parmesan asparagus, a hummus plate and Pizza Fritta Napoli (Alfredo-topped fried dough with dipping sauces, pictured above) may become fixtures this December. Each plate is priced at $4 (at least in test markets) and designed for sharing.

But while tapas-style offerings are a great way to taste new things, Bloomberg points out that Olive Garden's core customers are more accustomed to large — and sometimes never-ending — portions of pasta, soup and breadsticks.

So where do you stand? Are you a fan of tapas-style plates and restaurants? Not just at Olive Garden, but in general?
