We’ve all heard of chicken as a pizza topping but Domino’s is taking America’s obsession with meat one step further.

Introducing Specialty Chicken, a new appetizer that uses breaded chicken as a vehicle for traditional pizza toppings. The popular pizza chain announced that the new dish will come in four flavor varieties including Classic Hot Buffalo, Sweet BBQ Bacon, Spicy Jalapeno-Pineapple and Crispy Bacon & Tomato.

"We're doing something with chicken that no one else is doing," says J. Patrick Doyle, CEO of Domino's, told USA Today. "We look at this as an opportunity to do chicken with a twist."

According to USA Today, chicken is the second most popular offering from the Domino’s menu, after pizza, of course. The restaurant is trying to capitalize on something new.

The product certainly looks like a mouthful, pun intended, and reminds us of KFC’s Double Down. And if you think the name is a little strange, apparently calling the new dish ‘pizza chicken’ didn’t test well among consumers.
