Tom Clancy, the best-selling author of several celebrated military and espionage novels, died Tuesday at a Baltimore hospital, reports The New York Times.

Clancy was 66, and his career penning C.I.A thrillers spanned nearly three decades, beginning with "Clear and Present Danger" in 1984 through "Threat Vector" in late 2012. An upcoming novel, titled "Command Authority," is slated for release on December 3.

His books also spawned a several video games adaptations, along with a handful of successful films starring Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck as his most recognizable character of Jack Ryan. ("Star Trek" actor Chris Pine is also set to portray Ryan in an upcoming film).

As we look back on Clancy's body of work, we can't help but think of the films that brought his novels to life. Which was your favorite?
