In July 2009, Nine-year-old Ava and twelve-year-old Lexie Gutierrez visited a local animal shelter and were shocked by the large number of sick, homeless and unwanted animals. As a result, founded their very own animal rescue. Today, Operation Ava is one of Philadelphia’s largest no-kill animal shelters. In fact, we have saved 1,200 lives since we began—and with your support we look forward to saving thousands more.
