On Your Mark, Get Set, GO See 'Turbo'!

Meet DreamWorks Animation's fast talkin’, big dreamin’, speed lovin’ snail, Turbo. At the heart of this little mollusk’s big dream to become a world-famous racer is the classic “I think I can” lesson. Like "The Little Engine That Could," Turbo faces tremendous odds but after a freak accident, he gets the speed he needs to compete in the Indy 500. Teaming up with another fellow dreamer — a man who co-owns a down-and-out taco stand — Turbo makes his way to the race.
Cute, charming and tons of fun, "Turbo" kept its pace from the start. DreamWorks always nails its animation and they have a knack for adding amazing detail to the littlest of creatures.
As for the voice acting, Ryan Reynolds gives a sweet sentimentality to the little garden snail. Plus, Samuel L. Jackson and Snoop Dogg definitely add bring the comedy as Turbo’s racing companions.
"Turbo" is for the kids, which was a bit of a bummer for this big kid. The beauty of past DreamWorks films is their ability to blend story and slapstick for the little ones and some smart and witty one-liners for the adults. Throughout "Turbo" I had a few laughs along the way, but not enough to make me want to watch on repeat (ie. Shrek).
But, as one nine-year old movie critic made very clear on her way out of the theater, “Turboooooo… give it five stars! Give it five stars!” So, who am I to argue?
If you are looking for a fun summer flick with the kids and "Despicable Me 2" isn’t on the must-watch list, then on your marks, get set, GO … "Turbo"’s got the green light in my book!
