Newly crowned Miss America Nina Davuluri crashed the "Fox & Friends" Curvy Couch on Wednesday to discuss her thrilling win and the reaction she received on social media.

The 24-year-old New Yorker made history by becoming the first Miss America of Indian descent. But her heritage was also the target of some negative feedback.

"It was an unfortunate experience," Davuluri told Elisabeth, Steve and Brian. "But for one negative tweet, one negative post, comment, there were dozens of positive remarks and support."

Davuluri is using her new-found celebrity as a platform to promote cultural diversity: "I have always viewed Miss America as the girl next door, but for me the girl next door is evolving as the diversity in America evolves."
