Mayim Bialik announced in a blog post on the Jewish Parenting website Kveller.com that her father, Barry Bialik, died earlier this month.

“The Big Bang Theory” star explained that he had been in a hospice for two months.

"We knew it was coming. We had months to process and love and grieve and rage at God and all of that. And then he died."

The 39-year-old actress said that despite being prepared for his passing she wasn’t sure how much to share with fans.

"For those of you who have lost a parent," she continued, "you know how I feel. You tell me you do. For those of you who have lost someone else you were close to, you also tell me you know how I feel.

"But you don't. Because you're not me losing my Abba," she added, using the Hebrew word for father.

Bialik told fans that she "appreciated condolences and care and love, but I am alone in the singularity of my loss."

The former child star said she was relying on her faith to pull her through the hard time.

"For now, I am praying a lot," wrote Bialik. "And remembering a lot. And crying. And also laughing."
