Kate Middleton and Prince William attended an art gallery unveiling at London's National Portrait Gallery this morning, where artist Paul Emsley debuted the first official royal portrait of the Duchess.

So far, the portrait is sparking polarizing opinions. Emsley, who is known for his photo-realistic style, is drawing criticism from some over the way he chose to paint Kate's face. "He made her look older than she is," remarked Waldemar Januszczak, an art critic for Britain's Sunday Times. " … there's something rather dour about the face," he added. On the other hand, the Duchess herself gushed over the likeness, calling it "absolutely brilliant."

We want to know what you think. Are the critics being too critical of Emsley's work?
