Brad Pitt’s charity, set up to help New Orleans residents devastated by Hurricane Katrina, is coming under fire amid allegations the homes the organization built are rotting, Radar Online reports.

According to the website, more than two dozen homes in the Ninth Ward built by the Make It Right charity are rotting from the inside out.

“The wood turned gray and it was also black.”

“The wood turned gray and it was also black,” Nola Verrett, owner of a Make It Right home, tells RadarOnline.com. “Also some parts it was buckling and it had mushrooms growing out of it. Different neighborhoods saw it, too.”

Make It Right officials are blaming the lumber company, TimberSIL. The Pitt charity is now considering legal action against the company, Radar Online reports.

“It [the lumber] was unable to withstand moisture, which is obviously a big problem in New Orleans,” Make It Right rep Taylor Royle told the New Orleans Advocate.

Verrett told Radar that the wood on her home was replaced with yellow pine.

About 30 homes will need to have repairs, according to the website.
