Benicio del Toro Makes Latino History – One Steamy Page at a Time

Puerto-Rican actor Benicio del Toro is the first ever Latino man to star in the iconic series of Campari Calendars, in this 12th edition.

Benicio del Toro might be bringing one of the most infamous drug traffickers to the big screen.

The Puerto Rican actor is reportedly in talks to play Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar in a new film, according to TV Notas.

The entertainment publication said Del Toro, who has played other prominent Latinos such as Argentine revolutionary Ernesto "Che" Guevarra, might be inking a deal to play Escobar’s character in the upcoming film “Paraiso perdido,” or “Lost Paradise."

Escobar, one of the most notorious drug dealers in the 80s, was killed by federal agents in 1993 in Medellín.

The flick is said to be directed by Italian actor Andrea di Stefano, who will be starting a press tour for the film in Panamá this month.

TV Notas says that Del Toro is very interested and excited to be a part of the project.

The film will reportedly not be centered around Escobar’s life but rather it will be a love story – a young surfer falls for Escobar’s daughter and then realizes the danger of being involved with the family of such a wanted drug lord.
