Ben Affleck Names His Own Worst Film, and It’s Not ‘Gigli’

Perhaps Ben Affleck signed on to play Batman in the upcoming "Man of Steel" sequel as an act of penance, because the actor recently told Playboy that his previous super-hero flop — 2003's "Daredevil" — was the only movie he regrets making.

"It just kills me," he told the publication. "I love that story, that character, and the fact that it got f***ed up the way it did stays with me. Maybe that's part of the motivation to do Batman."

Affleck, now an Oscar-winner for his producing and screenwriting efforts, added that he considers "Daredevil" to be even worse than the universally panned "Gigli," which also came out in 2003. "That [year] was a series of movies that didn’t work and ["Gigli"] in particular … was widely mocked because it had a funny name and overlapped with the tabloid situation," he said.

Affleck also told Playboy that he eventually learned not to co-star with his real-life love interests — and that especially includes his wife, Jennifer Garner. "Well, my wife and I made 'Pearl Harbor' and 'Daredevil,'" he said. "With our track record, I don't know if anyone's looking for a three-quel."
