Selena Gomez has added comedian Amy Schumer to her long list of Hollywood friends and BFFs.
The singer-actress could only gush about the “Trainwreck” star while presenting her with the comedy award at Sunday night’s Hollywood Film Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
“I talk about her obsessively. I’ve tweeted her often. I try to impersonate her, and it doesn’t really work,” Gomez gushed from the stage, according to E! News. “I actually just met her, so basically what I’m saying is I’m really happy that clearly Jennifer Lawrence wasn’t able to do this tonight because I love you.”
The 23-year-old Gomez then praised Schumer for giving a comedic voice to “the women of my generation.”
"You've inspired me to not take myself too seriously," she went on. "When I sit on my couch sort of endlessly depressed about certain things, you've constantly made me feel like I'm a bad-ass. Though most of the time I am not.”
Gomez continued, “You say the things I wish I could say. And you never, ever make me feel bad for anything I do in my personal life. Even though you don't know me. So it's fine. Let me make it clear, I'm a huge fan!"
When she joining her new fan on the stage, Schumer made it clear that Gomez was anything but a back-up plan.
“I didn’t ask Jen, Selena – you’re my first choice,” she said.
The night’s other honorees included Benicio del Toro, Robert De Niro, Will Smith, Carey Mulligan, Jane Fonda, Alicia Vikander, Jane Fonda, Joel Edgerton, Saoirse Ronan, director Ridley Scott and the casts of “Furious 7” and “Straight Outta Compton.”
