Are Jennifer Lopez and boyfriend Casper Smart heading toward a break up?
RadarOnline.com claims the couple is on the rocks and even had a “mini-split” in June. The report alleges that the absence of the much-younger former backup dancer Smart from the red carpet at a Human Rights Campaign event on Oct. 5 is evidence that the couple is in trouble.
“They’re obviously in very different places in their lives, and Jennifer wants to take responsibility for her life and not repeat the same mistakes she has made in the past,” a source told RadarOnline.com. “She enjoyed the relationship for what it is, but now the giddiness has turned to sadness.”
According to the report, the Puerto Rican singer, 44, has tried to end the two-year relationship with the 26-year-old dancer multiple times, but it has been difficult – mostly because of Smart’s close bond with her twins, Max and Emme.
“Jennifer is pretty private about the relationship, but she’s been hinting that the spark is gone,” according to RadarOnline.com. “She’s having a hard time ignoring the fact that her head has been telling her for a while that this thing with Casper isn’t forever. And now her heart’s saying the same thing.”
GossipCop was quick to squash the claims of a split, claiming “actual” source told the site the report was “absolutely false.”
In the October 2013 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine, the “American Idol” judge discussed her love for her boyfriend.
“For me, it’s about having a great partner to walk this life with,” Lopez said. “I have my own high standards for what I want in a partner and how I want to be treated. I bring a lot to the table. I’m not talking about material things, but what I have to offer as a person – love and loyalty and all the things that make a good relationship.”
Lopez and Smart have been dating since 2011 – they got together soon after her separation from husband of eight years, Marc Anthony.
The singer recently announced she is penning a book about her struggle during and after her divorce from the salsa crooner. The book will be released next year.
“I understand a lot of things about myself and my relationships, things I needed to learn,” Lopez told People En Español after announcing the book.
