A man in the United Kingdom who assaulted a traffic cop when he was ticketing the man for parking his car illegally was sentenced to two years in jail, police stated in a news release Friday.
Daniel Corneille, 47, pleaded guilty on Thursday to grievous bodily harm without intent for attacking a traffic cop in Sheerness.
Surveillance footage released by Kent Police showed Corneille quickly crossing a street toward a traffic officer, who was taking photos of the car, and forcefully pushing him on Jan. 6.
The officer was seen falling over into the side of a building. Corneille, according to the footage, seemingly screamed at the traffic officer and grabbed the man before again pushing him to the ground.
Corneille then walked away while the officer was keeled over on the ground.
Corneille was ticketed, according to police, because his vehicle was blocking an area that was meant to help blind people cross the road, and he also was parked on double yellow lines.

When the officer was taken to a hospital, officials discovered he had a fractured shoulder from the incident.
“This was an unprovoked attack on the victim who was doing his job, and did not deserve to be injured for this,” investigating officer Jez Chittim said.
Chittim added that Corneille claimed the incident was a result of him “having a bad day,” but noted “a lot of people have bad days, and do not lose control and act in such a violent manner. I hope that this sentencing acts as a reminder to others to not behave in the same manner.”
