BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – An Argentine judge is seeking to revive an investigation into former President Cristina Fernandez over the alleged cover-up of Iranian involvement in the 1994 Jewish community center bombing.
The state news agency Telam said Tuesday that Judge Claudio Bonadio asked fellow judge Daniel Rafecas to turn over the case file and the latter consented. Rafecas had refused to reopen the case against Fernandez, which he shelved last year.
The case against Fernandez, who governed Argentina in 2007-2015, was compiled by the late prosecutor Alberto Nisman. Nisman died mysteriously in January 2015. He was found shot in the head just hours before he was to present the case against Fernandez to Congress.
Bonadio is overseeing a probe of Fernandez foreign minister Hector Timerman for allegedly conspiring with Iran.
