The mother of a 14-year-old boy shot dead in Central California says her son had recently been in a fight at school with his 13-year-old classmate suspected in the death.
Tricia Sease tells KFSN-TV in Fresno that her son feared for his life. Diego Perez died late Friday outside an apartment complex in Huron, a small farming community southeast of Fresno.
Authorities are still conducting interviews and have yet to reveal what led up to the deadly gunfire.
Investigators have said they believe the shooting was intentional.
Authorities arrested the 13-year-old suspect hours later.
Tony Botti of the Fresno County sheriff's office says prosecutors and juvenile probation officials could file charges Tuesday.
Prosecutors say there's little they can release publicly because the suspect is a juvenile.
