A district attorney says nine North Carolina bondsmen who shot and killed a man last year will not face charges.

The News & Record of Greensboro reported (http://bit.ly/2ot8QX6) Davidson County District Attorney Garry Frank confirmed Wednesday that no charges will be filed in the death of 37-year-old Danny Wayne Holmes.

Holmes was shot last April 28.

Frank said the decision against filing charges is based on witness statements and the law that gives bondsmen the authority to take someone into custody.

Investigators said Holmes exchanged gunfire with nine bondsmen who were attempting to take him into custody on a number of charges. Those included assault with a deadly weapon, communicating threats and injury to personal property, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, obtaining property by false pretense and misdemeanor larceny.
