TACOMA, Wash. – A police officer was shot multiple times in Tacoma while responding to a domestic violence call about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.
Tacoma police said on Twitter about 6 p.m. that officers were working an active call involving many agencies in the 400 block of East 52nd Street. Police asked people to stay away from the area.
Multiple news outlets reported the suspect was barricaded in a home with a weapon and that officers were working to arrest the suspect.
Police say the officer was taken to a Tacoma hospital but didn't give the extent of the officer's injuries.
No information was immediately available about the specific circumstances leading up to the shooting.
