A Virginia mother says a person dressed in a scary clown mask that prompted alarm in the area is her 12-year-old son and he's "a very sweet child."

Holly Brown tells WTVR-TV (http://bit.ly/2cCm8Q0 ) her son Angus has autism and is a big fan of horror author Stephen King. She says Angus recently got a costume modeled after the Pennywise character from King's novel, "It."

WTVR reports Angus wore the costume and waved at cars while being driven by his grandmother to his mother's home. Someone snapped a picture, shared it on social media and contacted the TV station.

Brown says "there was no malicious intent" from her son. She says she and Angus agreed that from now he'll only wear the costume at Halloween functions.
