Three former students of a private college prep school in Rhode Island are alleging they were abused by the same faculty member in the 1970s.

Rocky Hill School announced Wednesday that Warwick police were notified. The former faculty member has been ordered to sever any contact with the school.

School officials say they reached out to their community after reports of sexual abuse at other schools and asked for information about misconduct that may have occurred at Rocky Hill.

Two former students say a faculty member engaged in inappropriate conduct with them. A third reported being raped by the faculty member on campus.

All three women told the school they were between 16 and 18 years old when the incidents occurred and never reported them.

Police haven't returned a message seeking comment.
