CONCORD, N.H. – Attention, history buffs: The home of a Declaration of Independence signer, which has stayed in his family for generations, still hasn't sold two years after his great-great-great-great granddaughter put it up for sale.
Josiah Bartlett, of Kingston, New Hampshire, was a doctor who signed the document after John Hancock. He later became governor.
Ruth Albert, who wants to downsize and hopes that the 242-year-old house can stay in her family, says she got excited last year when she was approached by a fellow Bartlett descendant. But it didn't work out.
The 4,600-square-foot farmhouse, plus water frontage, open pasture and woods, is selling for $849,900.
The name might ring familiar to fans of the TV series "The West Wing." Martin Sheen played President Josiah Bartlet from New Hampshire, a fictional descendant.
