A man has been arrested in what authorities are calling a road-rage incident on an interstate near Philadelphia in which a driver fired a bullet into the door of another vehicle.

State police said 50-year-old Anthony Richardson of Philadelphia was taken into custody Wednesday morning on charges in Montgomery County including attempted 3rd-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Authorities allege that he was the driver who fired a 32-caliber round into the passenger door of another vehicle as the two were side-by-side on Interstate 476 at about 3 p.m. Thursday.

Trooper Brian Maturo said the interstate was heavily trafficked at the time and the shooting caused "huge danger." He said the defendant had been involved in other road-rage incidents.

Court documents don't list an attorney who could respond to the charges.
