Police in Philadelphia are searching for a man who shot an officer who was trying to stop a carjacking.

Officer James McCullough was shot in the leg during the Sunday night carjacking and is in stable condition at a hospital.

Police Commissioner Richard Ross tells WXTF-TV (http://bit.ly/1Vx6HbC) they don't have the shooter in custody, but they did capture a second carjacking suspect.

Police announced overnight that they had two suspects in custody, but Ross says that wasn't accurate.

Police say 24-year-old McCullough and his partner were flagged down by a woman who told them two men were trying to steal her car.

The two men ran away as officers approached the vehicle. McCullough tackled one, who shot him and fled. McCullough returned fire before tending to his wound.
