A detective has testified at a bond hearing that a Pittsburgh man arrested on drug and weapons charges stemming from a police search in 2013 is a suspect in a cookout ambush last month that killed five people, including a pregnant woman.

Allegheny County Detective Steve Hitchings testified Thursday, as first reported by KDKA-TV, that Robert Thomas has been told he's a suspect in the March 9 shootings in Wilkinsburg. The judge then revoked Thomas' bond on grounds he's a flight risk and danger to the community.

Nobody's been charged in the shootings and Hitchings' testimony was the first time law enforcement has named a suspect.

Defense attorney Casey White tells KDKA the 27-year-old Thomas knows nothing about the shootings. White didn't immediately return a call from The Associated Press.
