Prosecutors say a mother has pleaded guilty to a charge that she hindered the apprehension of her teenage son on murder charges.

Michelle Staton entered a negotiated guilty plea Monday. Faulkner County Prosecutor Cody Hiland said she was sentenced to six years in prison and six additional years of a suspended sentence for hindering apprehension and two unrelated drug charges.

Fifteen-year-old Justin Staton has pleaded not guilty to capital murder and other charges in the shooting of Robert and Patricia Cogdell, who raised him as their grandson.

Prosecutors allege the teen and his friend, 18-year-old Hunter Drexler, robbed and shot the couple, then dumped their bodies in a wooded area nearby.

Drexler and two other teens have also pleaded not guilty to charges in the slayings.
