HARRISBURG, Pa. – The arrest of a Pennsylvania high school student on identity theft and sexual assault charges is drawing astonished reactions from people who knew the boyish looking 23-year-old through his stellar academic record and community activism.
Police and prosecutors say they're working to piece together the facts surrounding Artur Samarin, who apparently enrolled as a freshman at Harrisburg High school four years ago, after completing two years of college in Ukraine.
He's charged with faking documents and with statutory sexual assault involving a 15-year-old victim.
Samarin's lawyer says his motives in coming to the United States were to take part in the American dream.
Prosecutors say more charges are possible.
