The brother of a Phoenix man killed in a Texas shootout with police has testified that a defendant in a terror trial was an Islamic State supporter.
KNXV-TV reports that Ali Soofi testified Wednesday in federal court in Phoenix in the trial of Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem.
The 44-year-old moving company owner is accused of orchestrating a thwarted attack at a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest on May 3 in Garland, Texas.
Elton Simpson and Ali Soofi's brother, Nadir Soofi, were killed by a police officer.
Ali Soofi testified that he lived with his brother and Simpson from 2014-15 and that Kareem often visited, was vocal about his support for Islamic State and frequently watched Islamic State videos.
Ali moved out about a month before the foiled Texas attack.
