Severed horse head found in box in Manhattan park

A person walking in a Manhattan park found the severed head of a horse and other animal parts in a cardboard box, the NYPD said.

The person was walking through Harlem River park when he came upon the severed head inside a beer box at about 11 a.m. on Sunday, according to investigators.

The Department of Sanitation removed the head shortly thereafter.

The investigation is continuing.
