Jurors at the trial of an Arizona man accused of planning a shooting at a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest in Texas viewed the social media posting of another man who was killed in a shootout with police as he tried to carry out the attack.

The jury at the trial of Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem was shown a Twitter posting made by his friend, Elton Simpson, 16 minutes before the start of the May 3 attack in Garland, Texas.

Simpson wrote, "May Allah accept us as mujahideen."

The postings provide insight into the attack, but it's unclear whether there is a connection to Kareem, who didn't have a Twitter account and wasn't mentioned by name in the comments.

Kareem denies planning the attack.
