The Phoenix home where a man gunned down his parents and sisters was always a place of fun family outings.

Vic Buckner manned the grill and was known for his barbecue skills. His wife, Kimberly, was a gracious host. Their daughter Emma, 6, loved drawing and ballet, and older sister Kaitlin, 18, was studying to become an ultrasound technician.

The family bonds were shattered this week when the oldest son, Alex Arthur Buckner, opened fire in the home Tuesday morning, killing his parents and his two sisters.

Police and firefighters braved flames and bullets trying to rescue the victims. A police officer later shot and killed the 26-year-old.

Investigators continue to comb through charred and water-damaged debris to reconstruct the entire ordeal.

A relative of Alex Buckner said he suffered from emotional problems.
