Police say nearly two dozen people inside a U.S. Customs and Border protection office in Alameda were quarantined after an employee opened a suspicious package and became ill.

Alameda Police Lt. Gil Ottaviano says hazmat teams and firefighters are on the scene and that some of the quarantined employees are being allowed to leave the building.

Chopper video from Oakland television station KTVU shows dozens of people standing outside the building.
