Police are identifying two officers wounded Saturday in Louisiana during a shootout.

Baton Rouge Police spokesman Sgt. Don Coppola said Monday the patrol officers are Theodore Smith III and Sean Garic. Smith has worked for Baton Rouge police since August 2011 and Garic since February 2013.

Garic was released from the hospital Sunday, while Coppola remains hospitalized with a stomach wound.

The man police say fired on the officers, 22-year-old Calvin Smith, died late Saturday. Police responded to a domestic disturbance before dawn Saturday, and when they arrived, Smith sped off in a car. After a chase, authorities say Smith jumped out and shot at officers with a rifle.

Smith was black. One of the officers is white and the other is black.
