A 14-year-old Pennsylvania girl accused of plotting with her soldier boyfriend by text message to kill her mother will be tried as an adult.

A judge in Lehigh County announced the decision at a Thursday afternoon hearing in Jamie Silvonek's case.

Silvonek is accused of conspiring with 21-year-old Army Spc. Caleb Barnes via text to kill her mother in the driveway of her home near Allentown.

Police say 54-year-old Cheryl Silvonek was beaten, choked and stabbed in her SUV in March after returning from a concert with them.

Prosecutors have argued that the teenager can't be rehabilitated in the time she'd be under juvenile court's control.

A defense attorney has said Jamie Silvonek was an impressionable child under the sway of a man and should be tried in juvenile court.
