One of three girls who authorities say were imprisoned in an Arizona home has testified that her parents physically abused them if they violated any rules.

The girl cried throughout her hours-long questioning in the kidnapping and child abuse case against her mother, Sophia Richter, and stepfather, Fernando Richter.

She described abuse that got progressively worse as the girls were moved from a house in Catalina, Arizona, to Tucson, where she couldn't leave her room and had to urinate and defecate in a closet.

The girl decided to escape on Nov. 26, 2013, after an encounter with her stepdad. She said she was afraid for her life before she and her younger sister fled through a window.

The Associated Press does not generally identify minors who say they are crime victims.
