Firefighters and a dog have been combing the woods in northern New Jersey for a 100-pound tortoise that doesn't move at a glacial pace.

Sulley got out of a backyard enclosure in Union Township over the Labor Day weekend.

Members of the Pattenburg Volunteer Fire Company and their search-and-rescue dog are searching for the tortoise.

A friend of Sulley's owner, Phil Roerig, tells NJ.com (http://bit.ly/1Q65hOJ ) Sulley covers probably 6 inches with each step.

Roerig says the tortoise is quiet and usually follows the path of least resistance.

Sulley ended up in north Jersey after an iguana rescue group had recovered the tortoise from an apartment in southern New Jersey.
