A Virginia man has pleaded guilty to felony grand larceny after depositing a check from the city of Norfolk for about $115,000 more than it was supposed to have been for.

The Virginian-Pilot (http://bit.ly/1Nsk05s ) reports that Matthew Fox entered his plea Wednesday, more than a year after he deposited a settlement check that read $116,000. Fox says he knew the check was supposed to have only been for $1,160.

Fox was given the check in January 2014 after having reached a settlement over the towing of some of his vehicles. He says he deposited the check because he thought he'd been treated unfairly.

City officials noticed the clerical error in April 2014.

Fox has given the city back about $70,000 and says he'll return the approximately $45,000 he still owes. His sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 13.
