The first solid clue in the disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 has been found. A wing part washed up on the French Island of Reunion off the coast of Madagascar, Africa. The part is a “flaperon”, and it comes from the trailing edge of a Boeing 777 wing. MH370 is the only Boeing 777 known to me missing. 239 people were on board the jetliner flying from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.

The U.S. Senate set to vote on a three month extension of funding for highways. The Senate will vote on a House passed version that funds construction and repairs through December.

We get the first read on second quarter GDP today with economists expecting a solid 2.6% growth rate after a weak Q1. We also get weekly jobless numbers.

We’re monitoring several hearings and live events on the Hill today including whistleblowers at the VA, events marking the 50th anniversary of Medicare, a Pelosi news conference and several events from Senator and presidential candidate Bernie Sanders.
 
Tar balls are washing up along the California coast again. There’s a miles-long slick of oil about 1,000 years off the beach. Authorities don’t know where it’s coming from yet.
