Hillary Clinton is campaigning at Noon today in Altoona, Iowa. She’ll give a speech at an education event at 12:15pm. We’ll monitor for news.

Vanessa Williams in the Washington Post writes, “Hillary Rodham Clinton spent the weekend in Iowa confronting an enthusiasm gap facing her presidential candidacy by reminding the Democratic base that she has been a reliable warrior for the causes it cares about most.”

Clinton’s favorability ratings have taken a big hit recently setting off some alarm bells. Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders appears to be the biggest beneficiary so far.

The Clinton email troubles related to the Benghazi terror attack while she was Secretary of State may be mostly to blame.

Clinton agreed Friday to testify publicly in October to a Republican-led Congressional hearing on Benghazi.

President Obama is in Africa on a multi-country trip. He’s holding a news conference with the Ethiopian Prime Minister right now, and then address the African Union.. the first U.S. President to do so. He’ll be discussing human rights, terrorism and economic growth. A joint news conference with the president of Kenya turned testy over the issue of gay rights. Kenya has a history of condoning violence against gays and lesbians. The President also challenging the country of his father’s birth to take on corruption and sexism. Kevin Corke is in Addis Ababa.

The Senate was busy in an unusual Sunday session yesterday. They put the framework in place for a bill that re-authorizes the Export-Import bank attaching it to a transportation funding bill that funds transportation spending for three years. The Export Import bank has been effectively shut down since June 30th. It’s set off quite a fight between Republicans on the Hill.

Keep an eye on the markets today as Chinese stocks are plummeting and Dow futures are headed lower. The Shanghai stock index fell eight and a half percent today on a cutback in stock purchases by the Chinese government.

The Greek stock market remains closed. Markets have been closed there since June 29th.

The Feds fined Fiat/Chrysler more than 100 million dollars over violations of recall orders on some 11 million vehicles.

Teva buying the drug division of Allergan for 40.5 billion in stock and cash.. as an insane pace of mergers in the medical industry continues.

Bobbi Kristina Brown, the troubled daughter of Whitney Houston, has died at the age of 22 after being in a coma since she was found unconscious in a bathtub in January. Her famous mother died of an apparent overdose.. also drowning in a bathtub in 2012.
