A local official in Mississippi is charged with grand larceny after authorities say he allegedly posed as an auto parts store employee and took a money bag.

Corinth Police Chief Ralph Dance tells media outlets that Alcorn County Supervisor Jimmy "Dal" Nelms turned himself in to police Thursday.

Dance says Nelms walked into O'Reilly Auto Parts store about two weeks ago, went into the manager's office and took a deposit bag of cash.

Dance says while in the store, Nelms changed into an employee's shirt and created a distraction so he would walk away.

In December, Nelms was charged with 156 counts of embezzlement and forgery. The state auditor's office says Nelms' created a scheme to collect payments from county vendors in exchange for getting county business.
