NEW YORK – Authorities say a suspect in a Brooklyn subway assault has been shot to death by police after he slashed an officer with a knife.
The incident was unfolding Thursday afternoon in Coney Island.
Police say the officer was taken to a hospital with neck and shoulder injuries. He is expected to survive.
The officer apparently fired twice.
Preliminary reports indicate the attacker had assaulted a woman in the station before the officer intervened.
