The Hawaiian Volcano Observatory says a magnitude-4.5 earthquake jolted the Big Island of Hawaii.

The observatory says the quake struck at 2:18 a.m. Saturday. It was centered about 5 miles north of the small town of Naalehu at a depth of 6 miles.

There were no reports of damage or injury. People around the island reported light shaking. The observatory says light shaking isn't expected to damage buildings.

Small aftershocks under magnitude-2 were recorded in the hours after.
