An Annapolis man has been arrested in the shooting of a police officer who's fighting for his life.

Anne Arundel County Police say 30-year-old Colvin Lamar White was arrested Friday and charged with attempted first- and second-degree murder, and weapons and robbery charges. No attorney is listed for White in online court records. He's being held without bond.

Lt. T.J. Smith says the shooting happened early Friday near a 7-Eleven along College Parkway in the Arnold area. Smith says Cpl. Larry Adams approached a man who was reportedly acting suspiciously. Smith says some type of altercation ensued, and the man fled.

Adams gave chase, after which witnesses reported hearing at least one gunshot. Adams, a 10-year-veteran, was hit and remains in critical condition Saturday at Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center.
