LOS ANGELES – Authorities say a pregnant woman shot multiple times at a Los Angeles park is in critical but stable condition, and police are searching for the gunman.
Investigators say the woman was on a basketball court at Toberman Park late Sunday when the man opened fire, striking her several times in the upper torso.
Officer Julie Sohn says the victim is 18 years old and six or seven months pregnant. Her condition stabilized Monday after surgery.
Sohn says none of the bullets hit the unborn child. The unborn baby is expected to survive.
The gunman ran off after the shooting. Police are looking for witnesses.
Investigators have not named a suspect or a motive.
