A Texas volunteer firefighter resigned from his company and could potentially face criminal charges after posting a picture on social media suggesting he killed two dogs.

The caption with the graphic photo posted of two dogs lying helplessly on the ground on Tim Conatser’s Facebook page read “Somebody didn’t put any truth to my warning. Keep your damn dogs on your property.”

Hunt County Constable Terry Jones told The Dallas Morning-News that authorities received complaints after the photos started to circulate the Internet. Jones said the dogs were found dead in Hunt County.

The Union Valley Fire Department confirmed one of its volunteers was responsible for the photo in a a statement on its Facebook.

“We do not condone the recent actions of one of our firefighters. We are following our policy in removing him from our department.”

Royse City officials said they received numerous angry complaints about the photos.

“To set the record straight,” the department said in a Facebook post, “the person has been suspended as a Union Valley fireman, and lives outside of our city limits. Any offense did not occur within Royse City jurisdiction.”

One of the dog owners told Fox 4 News that no one ever complained about the dogs.

“I'm in shock,” Pulido Rodrigo, the owner of a black lab that was killed, said. “I don't know, I don't understand these people. Bad people, I don't know.”

The Hunt County Constables and the SPCA are investigating to determine whether animal cruelty charges should be filed.
