LOS ANGELES – Two earthquakes have struck north of Los Angeles, shaking parts of Ventura and Los Angeles counties, but fire officials say no significant damage took place.
The U.S. Geological Survey says a magnitude-4.5 quake hit at about 7:18 PST on Saturday and was centered close to 50 miles north of Los Angeles near the town of Castaic.
The Los Angeles Times (lat.ms/1BuKehV ) reports that a magnitude-3.0 quake occurred near the same place about 20 minutes earlier.
The Times says there have been three earthquakes of magnitude-3.0 or greater centered in the area over the last 10 days.
