SALT LAKE CITY – Former Attorney General John Swallow is facing an additional felony charge of accepting a gift while serving in public office.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill added the charge Thursday. It's the 14th count Swallow, a Republican, faces in a broader bribery case.
Gill says in court documents that in 2010, Swallow and his family vacationed in Nevada on the luxury houseboat of a Utah businessman who had been scrutinized by regulators.
Swallow was serving as chief deputy in the attorney general's office at the time.
Swallow's lawyer Stephen McCaughey says the trip wasn't a gift but a stay with a friend who didn't expect or receive anything in return.
Swallow's predecessor Mark Shurtleff faces nine charges in a separate bribery case.
Both men have denied wrongdoing but have not yet entered pleas.
